Golden Bay Eco-Neighborhood

We've started plans for our pedestrian oriented eco-neighborhood in Takaka, Golden Bay, New Zealand. Along with being active members of the Self Reliant Golden Bay Forum committee we are working on plans for a community of ten strawbale homes. Below is one artist's representation of what the first neighborhood could look like.

Update: Project Status
We are currently waiting for Tasman District Council to vote on "Proposed Variation 57". This will change the current resource management plan on the property from Rural to Residential and allow for development. Submissions of support or opposition on the variation have been summarized and are open for further comment until 2 February 2008. Copies of the summary are available at TDC.
